Descendants of William TOLTON & Elizabeth WHITTEN

William and Elizabeth came to Canada with their family in 1830 and settled first in Guelph Twp, where he purchased 200 acres, lots 9, 10 and 11, con. 5, Eramosa Township, Wellngton County, Upper Canada, and paid $4 per acre for the same. He was a tailor by trade, and followed it for some years in connection with farming. He was a man of strong personality and successful; a member of the Church of England, and in politics a Conservative.
About 1860 William's son Henry purchased a block of land of about 370 acres in the Township of Brant in the County of Bruce,which he intended to divide between his sons John and James. James wrote a wonderful description of his ventures and final settlement in Bruce County which can be read here. Grandfather James Tolton'Story
